Students from The Putney School to solo in Keene Chamber Orchestra’s first post-pandemic concert

The Keene Chamber Orchestra will present its first concert in more than two years, and will feature three student musicians from The Putney School who will perform solos.

Tenor Mark Quehl, '22; soprano Zoe Mickle, '23; and trombonist Spencer Tepper, '22 will perform with the orchestra consisting of string and woodwind players.

Eric Thomas, virtuoso clarinetist who serves as music director for both the orchestra and The Putney School, conducts. The concert will feature both new and familiar pieces, including Lars-Erik Larsson's Concertino for Trombone No.7, Opus 45, and the first movement of Beethoven's Sixth Symphony.

There will be two presentations, both free and open to the public: Saturday, May 14, 4 p.m., at Keene Public Library's Heberton Hall; and Sunday, May 15, 3 p.m., at The Putney School in Calder Hall in the Michael S. Currier Center.

Keene Chamber Orchestra, called “one of New Hampshire's cultural delights,” is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is “to provide meaningfully expressive rehearsals, live performances, and recordings of orchestral and chamber music repertoire at the highest standard, for audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of previous concert-going experiences,” according to its website.

The orchestra is also strongly committed to music education - instrumental instruction, music appreciation, scholarship, community development, and outreach chamber music and solo concerts.
