Manitou hosts healing walk for Earth Day
WILLIAMSVILLE - The Manitou Project, 300 Sunset Lake Rd., will celebrate Earth Day with its first Healing Walk of the season on Friday, April 22, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., rain or shine.
The walk will be led by Mike Mayer and will include poems or other readings to celebrate the Earth, and chances to share about the experience.
Healing Walks will be held every second and fourth Friday of each month until October.

Wildlife photos on view at All Souls Church
WEST BRATTLEBORO - An exhibit of wildlife photographs by Dara Carleton is on view at the All Souls UU Church, 29 South St.,. now through June 15. An artist's reception will be held on Sunday, April 24, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
With a focus on bald eagles and other raptors, Carleton has “a deep connection to the creatures she photographs near her home in southern Vermont,” as described on her website. “These photographs are an artistic reflection of her time immersed in nature and will hopefully serve as an inspiration to explore your local surroundings.”
Based in Brookline, Carleton has a degree in art and has exhibited locally for several years, has received several awards for her photos, and has volunteered for both NH Audubon and Audubon Vermont.
The exhibit may be viewed from 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Friday, and a slide show can be viewed at ascvt.org.
Fourth Wednesday meal served in Dummerston
DUMMERSTON - Evening Star Grange and Senior Solutions will offer their fourth Wednesday meal on Wednesday, April 27, with takeout meals available between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Meals will be served at noon for those eating on site.
The menu includes shepherd's pie (with or without meat) with mixed vegetables and broccoli/cauliflower salad, and gingerbread with whipped cream.
Payment will be by donation ($4, or $3 for those over age 60 is suggested). Reservations should be made at 802-254-1128 by Tuesday, April 26.
Monthly free produce available April 28
PUTNEY - The Vermont Foodbank and the Putney Foodshelf will co-sponsor the next monthly drop of free produce and some nonperishables on Thursday, April 28, from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at Putney Meadows, 17 Carol Brown Way (the white building across from the Putney Food Co-op and the fire station).
All are welcome. Because of COVID-19, remain in your car at pickup, and volunteers will bring out bags.
Hazardous waste depot reopens at WSWMD
BRATTLEBORO - Windham Solid Waste Management District's Household Hazardous Waste Depot is reopening for the season.
The site will be open Thursday mornings by appointment, from May 5 through Oct. 27, as well as on Saturday, May 14.
The fee is $10 per visit, with a 10-gallon maximum (about a trunkful).

Retreat Farm hosts Community Trail Work Day
BRATTLEBORO - On Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., join Retreat Farm staff and other community members in maintaining the nonprofit's 10-mile trail network during its annual Community Trail Work Day.
Projects will include brush clearing and trash pickup. Lunch will be provided.
Volunteers of all ages should register at RetreatFarm.org by Sunday, May 1.
