BRATTLEBORO — The Vermont Theatre Company welcomes the community to the East Coast premiere of Rathmines Road, written by Deirdre Kinahan and directed by Charlene Kennedy.
Performances will be held from Friday, April 29, through Sunday, May 1, and Friday, May 6 through Sunday, May 8, at the Hooker-Dunham Theater and Gallery, 139 Main St. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday performances begin at 3 p.m.
Rathmines Road is set in a small room over the course of a single night. A woman and her husband return to Ireland after the death of her parents to meet with a local estate agent about arranging for the sale of her family homestead. During the evening, suppressed memories of sexual assault and its consequences are brought into the light of day. Tensions rise as the hard question of taking responsibility for our actions is asked.
The cast features Cassandra Holloway in the role of Sandra. The cast also included Cyndi Cain as Linda, Brandyn Peterson as Dairne, Harral Hamilton as Eddie, and Tony Manica as Ray. Tara Sabino-Potter serves as the stage manager, Susan E. Sanders as the set designer, and Cameron Cobane as fight choreographer.
After the premiere performance on Friday, April 29, there will be a talkback session with a representative from The Women's Freedom Center. Those who are interested in this event are encouraged to make a reservation.
Tickets are $15 for general admission and $13 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door using cash, check, or card.
