BRATTLEBORO — The Guilford Welcome Center on Interstate 91 is hosting an art exhibit by Karen Becker through Wednesday, March 2.
Becker, of Brattleboro, says most of the artwork in the exhibit “focuses on [her] love of nature” and features oils, pastels, watercolors, monoprints, and acrylics.
She has exhibited her artwork in New York City, Boston, Maine, and Vermont. She received a BFA in graphic design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y.
During Becker's journey from Brooklyn to the Brattleboro area, she has created on-air graphics for public television, worked as a typographic designer for an advertising agency on Madison Avenue, and worked for Rolling Stone magazine in San Francisco.
Once in Vermont, Becker became part of the Vermont Arts Council's Artists in Schools Program. For 25 years, she led community painting mural workshops for children and adults. She is also a wedding photographer.
The center, on Interstate 91 northbound between the Vermont state line and Exit 1, is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
