Newfane town officials warn of scam emails

NEWFANE - The town is reminding residents that it does not send out emails regarding new tax bills, and that if residents receive one of these emails, it is a scam. [Story, A1.]

The town treasurer will not be mailing new tax bills until July 2022, town officials said, and if a revised tax bill needs to be sent to anyone, it will be sent through the U.S. Postal Service.

The only time a tax bill is emailed from the treasurer's office is when a resident calls and requests that method of delivery.

Window Dressers campaign a success

ROCKINGHAM -The Rockingham Energy Committee's first Window Dressers community build saw more than 50 community members finishing 188 window inserts for 22 households.

“These interior storm windows are now saving energy, helping keep those homes warmer, and [they] brought people together for a sense of community, collaboration, and achievement,” the committee said in a news release.

Whether someone ordered inserts, volunteered for a shift or five, provided a lunch for the workers, drove all over the area getting precise window measurements, or gifted the community with their expertise, “each person was an important part of making this happen,” the committee said, expressing gratitude for all those who helped.

The Committee looks forward to hosting Window Dressers again in the fall of 2022 and are now taking names of interested folks for next fall's build.

“Only a limited number of window inserts will be made by the community next year, so get on the list early,” the committee notes.
