WEST BRATTLEBORO — The Windham World Affairs Council (WWAC), founded in 1961, will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a party for new and returning members on Sunday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The event will be held outdoors at Lilac Ridge Farm, 264 Ames Hill Rd., and will include live music by Brattleboro-based experimental fusion group Aura Shards, a short program including reflections by former Ambassador Peter Galbraith and others, and light appetizers, desserts, wine, beer, and soft drinks.
While the farm provides open air and ample space for social distancing, they ask that unvaccinated individuals wear a mask. Children are welcome.
For 60 years, WWAC, an all-volunteer organization, has, according to a news release, “sought individuals with diverse perspectives who can shed light on the political, economic, social, and environment problems of our complex world and offer possible solutions.”
The organization seeks to “help our community better understand the issues and problems our world is facing. In this way, we hope to contribute to the creation of a livable, peaceful, better world in which we are prepared to participate knowledgeably in public affairs.”
WWAC offers all events, including this anniversary party, free to the public.
