Stratton Mountain hosts Fourth of July celebration with fireworks, live music

STRATTON — Stratton Mountain welcomes back a sky-high Fourth of July celebration in southern Vermont, taking place July 2, 3, and 4.

Fireworks, family activities, and live music return to the mountain, alongside summer operations, including downhill mountain biking, scenic lift rides, golf, hiking, and more.

The celebration begins Friday, July 2 with a local craft market paired with live music, shopping, and dining in the Stratton Village. Friday night kicks off Stratton's first Coca-Cola Movie Night of the season, featuring Annie on the large outdoor projector and movie screen.

Saturday, July 3 begins with the Running of the Bears 5K race around the resort, which starts at 9 a.m. Access to the Bike Park and scenic lift rides to the summit or mid-mountain will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., along with hiking, golf, and other activities.

“Mountain Friends and Freedom” is the theme for Stratton Mountain's Saturday evening celebration. For the kids, there will be an outdoor climbing wall, bungee jump, sack race, three-legged race, and other family activities.

Live music from The Dave Mathews Tribute Band begins at 5:30 p.m. After the DMTB show, a fireworks show starts at 9:30 p.m.

Due to capacity limits for the concert, registration is required for Mountain Friends and Freedom. Pre-registration online is recommended, as this event may sell out.

Stratton's Mountain Music series for summer 2021 kicks off Sunday with the Spin Doctors. A staple of the 1990s music scene with six albums, including the 5x-multi-platinum Pocket Full of Kryptonite, which sold at least 5 million copies, according to data from the Recording Industry Association of America.

The Spin Doctors bring their vibrant, blues-influenced sound to the Stratton stage at 7:30 p.m., with doors open at 5:30 p.m.
