BRATTLEBORO — The Vermont Theatre Company announces auditions for its first post-pandemic live production, Songs of Summer, a musical cabaret featuring songs of Broadway and beyond, to be performed in August in the area.
The VTC is looking for five or six singers to perform solo numbers, or duets, as well as ensemble pieces.
The show will take place in mid-August in Brattleboro, with times and locations to be determined. All state-mandated COVID-19 precautions will be followed for rehearsals and performances.
Anyone wishing to audition should provide an audition video of themselves singing 16- or 32-bar selections of two contrasting songs (an upbeat Broadway show tune and a ballad, for example).
Singers may audition a cappella or with a karaoke track or some other accompaniment. Those auditioning should also include a short introduction and highlight their acting, singing, and dancing experience.
Prospective singers will also need to fill out an audition form after VTC has received the video.
Videos should be submitted by Friday, April 23 to Director Lin Snider at [email protected] and Producer Bob Kramsky at [email protected].
Additional online interviews and follow-up callbacks may be held after the initial submission deadline. Casting will be completed by mid-May and virtual rehearsals will begin in June, with in-person rehearsals scheduled for July and August, according to performer availability.
