BRATTLEBORO — PAX, the Program of Academic Exchange, is seeking families interested who can host two exchange students who will be attending Brattleboro Union High School starting next month. This experience offers a great opportunity to learn firsthand about another culture and to share one's life with a student who is eager to discover life in America.
Hinrike, a 17-year old girl from Germany, has been studying martial arts since she was 5. She loves to ride horses and also plays trumpet and drums. John, from Ghana, also 17, likes to play soccer and basketball. He's also a straight-A student who belongs to a debate club in his country.
The main requirement for host families is to be warm, welcoming, and willing to share their daily lives with the student. Young couples, single parents, and retirees are encouraged to apply. Students do not need a private bedroom. Students have spending money for personal expenses, as well as medical insurance.
Families interested in knowing more about hosting can contact me at (802) 257-4710 or [email protected]. PAX is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing mutual respect among the people of the world. More information is available at www.pax.org.
