BRATTLEBORO — Grab a lunch and settle in to hear writers who are also your friends and neighbors read from their recently published books, at a Zoom Spotlight Reading on Saturday, Oct. 17, from noon until 1:15 p.m.
Six local poets and writers will read a 10-minute sampling of their work and take questions. This event is hosted by Epsilon Spires and emceed by Andy Burrows, poet and co-proprietor of Prolingua Associates.
Readers include Toni Ortner, reading from Daybook lll, a collection of dreams and imaginings inspired by life past and current events, while poet Terry Hauptman reads from Rubies in the Mud, a new collection that has received praise from Joy Harjo and Rosanna Warren, among others.
Tim Mayo reads from Notes to the Mental Hospital Timekeeper, an award-winning chapbook published this past year, and Vincent Panella, whose newest book, Sicilian Dreams, out this fall from Bordighera Press, once again plumbs themes springing from his Italian heritage.
Karma Kitaj will read from a sequel to Beguiled, a novel that takes place during the Great Depression, and Cheryl Wilfong reads from Breast Cancer Meets Mindfulness: Surrendering to Life, which won the Book of the Year Award from Independent Publishers of New England.
