ROCKINGHAM — I am a local person running for state representative as an independent for the Windham-3 district. I am running for quite a few reasons.
The number one reason is because I have traveled throughout the country and I think Vermont is the greatest place around. I am proud to say that I have called Vermont home for as long as I can remember.
It is so great that as we all know in Vermont, we make more maple syrup than any other state, tons of marble as well, and let's not forget the many other important things the rest of the country relies upon us for.
We also know that we have an incredible amount of cows here, the highest ratio of dairy cows per person in the country, I have heard before. Over 100 covered bridges and around 80 percent forest in the good old Green Mountain State are awesome statistics, of course! We are the second most rural state next to Maine. All wonderful things, in my opinion.
A few years ago, I managed to get to all 50 states, an experience I am very grateful for and would recommend to others.
What sticks out the most about this experience is that to date, I visited no place like Vermont anywhere. We have some of the friendliest people, quaint towns, and love for the environment and agriculture. All of our natural beauty is just the best there is.
I have a military background and believe strongly in service to others. I understand the meaning of representative - just as one does in the military, where we represent the flag and the people of this great country.
It seems in recent years in Montpelier we have had a trend for bills to be created that are raising different taxes, increasingly making it harder for some folks to stay in Vermont. We need more responsible lawmakers who can balance a budget, work well with one another, and create less gridlock.
I know I could do just that.
I would truly be honored to represent the district in November. I would vote for bills that create economic prosperity and have the best interest of our beautiful state in mind at the end of the day.
I would like to thank the readers for their listening time and The Commons for keeping our community always up to date and well informed!
