GRAFTON — The Grafton Music Festival will take place from Friday, July 2, through Sunday, July 4 with most of the events free for all ages and are a complement to the festivities taking place throughout southern Vermont.
The main event to the weekend of music is the 20th annual Vermont Symphony Orchestra (VSO) concert and fireworks at Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center.
The weekend kicks off Friday at 6:30 p.m., with a free outdoor concert featuring Simba, an eight-piece world beat dance band, in The Old Tavern at Grafton inn parking lot. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
On Saturday, Grafton Village will come alive with a celebration from 11 a.m.–4 p.m., featuring a dozen local artisans on display, a children's carnival run by the Grafton School PTA and local food vendors. The Grafton School's annual duck race will also take place at 1 p.m.
At 2 p.m., a free outdoor concert will feature Red Molly, a three-piece female folk rock trio in The Old Tavern at Grafton inn parking lot. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
At 7:30 p.m., the Vermont Symphony Orchestra will perform under the stars at Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center, followed by a fireworks display to benefit the Brattleboro Museum & Arts Center. Gates open at 4 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at BrattleboroTix.com or by calling 802-257-0124.
The festival wraps up on Sunday at 10 a.m., with a special church music service featuring the Stockwell Brothers, Vermont's longest running folk and bluegrass group, at the Grafton Church in Grafton Village.
