Brattleboro winter parking ban is lifted
BRATTLEBORO - The Parking Department says the winter parking ban has ended for the season.
Overnight parking will be allowed on all streets, except in the downtown area: Main, High, Elliot (from School to Main), Flat, Canal (from the Plaza to #63), Church, Elm, and Grove streets, and Harris Place.
Leaf collection schedule announced
BRATTLEBORO - Curbside spring leaf collection will take place on Friday, April 17, and Friday, May 1.
All leaves and clippings must be contained only in brown-paper leaf bags available for purchase at local businesses. No plastic bags or other containers will be accepted, as the materials collected will be used for compost.
The bags must be left at the curb by 7 a.m. on scheduled collection days.
Acceptable waste includes leaves, grass, clippings, garden waste, twigs, and branches no larger than 1 inch in diameter and 2 feet long.
No other household trash is to be included.
Leaves, brush, and yard debris are also accepted year-round at the Windham Solid Waste Management District on Old Ferry Road. The transfer station is open as usual on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Leaves may be discarded there for free; a fee is charged for brush or leaves mixed with brush.
Leaf and yard debris are collected via the curbside program twice in the spring and twice in the fall.

Current, MOOver require riders wear face masks
ROCKINGHAM - In compliance with current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for slowing the spread of the coronavirus, all riders on MOOver or Current buses or vans, or in volunteer driver cars, are required to wear a face mask, bandana, scarf, or other effective face covering prior to boarding a vehicle.
This covering is to remain on for the duration of the ride.
According to Southern Vermont Transit CEO Randy Schoonmaker, this policy is designed to protect riders, drivers, and the public.
This new directive complements existing MOOver and Current policy, which calls on riders to refrain from booking or taking a trip if they show any signs of fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
Since April 6, all MOOver and Current staff and volunteers have been provided a cloth face mask to wear while on duty.
Visit crtransit.org for the latest information on route changes, follow the Current on Facebook, or sign up for the Transit app at crtransit.org.

COVID-19 resource guide available
BRATTLEBORO - A new COVID-19 resource guide, aimed at individuals living in southeastern Vermont, is now available. This resource list is a compilation of currently known programs and activities relevant to people living in southeastern Vermont.
The resource can be found on the Windham Regional Commission's website by visiting windhamregional.org. If you are in immediate need of assistance, call Vermont's resource line by dialing 2-1-1 about help and resources.
The initial resource guide for the Windham Region was compiled by Groundworks Collaborative, United Way of Windham County, the town of Brattleboro Sustainability Coordinator, and the Windham Regional Commission. This resource guide is meant to be a living document that will be updated regularly.
With the changing nature of this pandemic, individual needs, and community response to it, you can help keep it current and up to date. Updates and suggestions are welcome through an electronic form on the guide's web page.
