Town Meeting informational forum set for March 11
BRATTLEBORO - The Selectboard will hold a pre-town meeting information forum on Wednesday, March 11, at Academy School beginning at 7 p.m. Representative Town Meeting articles will be discussed, including the budget.
At 6:30 p.m., town meeting members of each district will be available to meet with constituents to offer residents an opportunity to share their views and discuss articles to be voted on at the annual meeting.
Also, at that time, all three districts will be accepting nominations to fill town meeting member vacancies for one year. District 1 has 11 seats to appoint, District 2 has one seat to appoint, and District 3 has four seats to appoint.
Any residents from any of these districts interested in being considered for this position should be present at the caucus. Classroom locations at Academy School for each caucus will be posted in the school lobby that evening. The public is invited to attend their district's caucus and stay for the information meeting.
West Brattleboro Association holds pre-Town Meeting session
WEST BRATTLEBORO - The West Brattleboro Association will host a public meeting and information session on Representative Town Meeting on Thursday, March 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Hayes Court community room.
This meeting will be an opportunity for West Brattleboro residents to meet with our elected representatives, especially to our Representative Town Meeting, which meets on March 21, and talk about the things that are on the minds of residents personally, and as a community. BRATTLEBORO - What is your opinion regarding the articles on the warrant for the Annual Representative Town Meeting on March 21?
An online survey has been created to gather opinions on each article that will get voted on. The organizers of the survey say they will share the results with Town Meeting Members and also make the results broadly available. The deadline for submitting the survey is March 14.

Library hosts Experienced Goods bag sewing bee
PUTNEY - Putney community member and sewing enthusiast Melanie Fletcher is the seamstress behind the reusable T-shirt bags given out at Experienced Goods Thrift Store in Brattleboro.
The demand for the bags is big and Experienced Goods is looking for the community's help in cutting and sewing for another big batch of bags in support of our local Hospice.
Whether you're an experienced tailor or have never sewed a stitch, come to the Putney Public Library on Sunday, March 15, to help with an afternoon upcycling project. High schoolers seeking community service hours are encouraged to attend.

Rabies clinics in East Dover, Newfane
There will be two pet vaccination clinics this weekend in the West River Valley.
NewBrook Fire & Rescue will sponsor a vaccination clinic at the firehouse on Route 30 in Newfane on Saturday, March 14, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The East Dover Volunteer Fire Department will also sponsor a vaccination clinic at their firehouse on Dover Road in East Dover on Sunday, March 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
At both clinics, Dr. Miles A. Powers of East Dover will be vaccinating both dogs and cats. These clinics are open to anyone.
Fees will be $15 for rabies and $25 for a distemper-complex vaccine for either a dog or cat, or $35 for both vaccinations. Have dogs on a leash and cats in a carrier. For further information on either clinic, call 802-348-7918.
Chamber breakfast features county legislative delegation
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce will host a breakfast featuring the Windham County Legislative Delegation on Monday, March 16. The legislators will give an update on the legislative session. They will also take questions from the audience.
Scheduled to attend are state Sens. Becca Balint and Jeanette White, and state Reps. Mollie Burke, Sara Coffey, Emilie Kornheiser, Emily Long, Mike Mrowicki, Laura Sibilia, and Tristan Toleno.

Trivia Night benefits Kids in Coats
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Sunrise Rotary Club's monthly Trivia Night on March 16 will be a benefit for the United Way of Windham County's Kids in Coats program. Doors at American Legion Post 5, 32 Linden St., will open at 6 p.m., with trivia running from 6:30 to 9 p.m. You can come alone or bring a team of four to six members.
$20 gets you in the door and well-fed with a delicious meal, stimulating conversation, great problem solving. and friendly, fun competition. There is also a 50/50 raffle, with half the proceeds going to Kids in Coats, and half to the lucky winner.
March Bands Concert presented at BUHS
BRATTLEBORO - Brattleboro Union High School will present a March Bands Concert on Monday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Robert Kramsky Auditorium. No admission will be charged and the public is warmly invited to attend.
The evening will begin with the jazz band. Their program includes Mike Tomaro's Hard Bargain, Ellen Rowe's The Three J's, and Mark Taylor's arrangements of the Mellin and Wood ballad, My One and Only Love, and Cannonball Adderly's Sack of Woe.
Jazz workshop will take the stage next, performing Satin Doll by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn, and Cold Duck Time by Eddie Harris.
The concert band will conclude the concert. They will present The Hour of Wolves by Kimberly Archer, Open Space by Brian Balmages, An Irish Rhapsody by Clare Grundman, and Shepherd's Hey by Percy Grainger.

Local conservation partners host free workshop to review no-till farming practices
WESTMINSTER - The Cheshire County Conservation District and the Windham County Natural Resources Conservation District invite the public to a free workshop on March 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Westminster Historical Society.
Conservation partners from a range of local groups and organizations will share their knowledge regarding soil health and no-till practices on the farm, review available farm rental equipment in the region, share stories and experiences implementing no-till practices, and discuss a range of cost-share programs available to the public.

Guilford church presents Sugar-on-Snow Supper on March 21
GUILFORD - The Sugar-on-Snow Supper at Guilford Community Church will be held on Saturday evening, March 21. There are three seatings to choose from: 4:30, 5:45, and 7 p.m. Prices are $12 for adults, $6 for children age 11 and under, and $3 for preschoolers.

The menu features baked ham, baked beans, deviled eggs, potato salad, coleslaw, freshly baked rolls, sugar on snow, homemade donuts, pickles, and coffee, tea or milk. A half gallon of maple syrup will be raffled off during each seating.

CHESTER - To support its community beautification projects, Chester Townscape is offering a small tree (pagoda dogwood) and three wonderful shrubs (winterberry, Little Quick Fire hydrangea, and Aronia Low Scape Mound). All are extremely hardy and adaptable plants with colorful blossoms and multi-season interest.
These reliable, low-maintenance plants are nursery-grown and good size. They are offered to the public for less than regular retail prices. Buyers don't have to be Chester residents, but do have to pre-order, pay before April 1, and then pick up the plants, likely in the first week of May, from Sunshine Acres Nursery on Route 11 in Chester.
