Restorative justice training is offered at Moore Library

NEWFANE - Restorative Community Justice of Southern Vermont and the Moore Free Library on West Street continue their winter series of restorative practice training with a presentation by Mel Motel on Feb. 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., about preparing for a restorative circle with quality intakes.

Planning to lead a circle or other restorative conversation about a conflict or harm? A successful “intake” - a one-on-one meeting with each participant prior to a group conversation - is essential to a successful circle.

The talk will cover what makes a good intake, observe a demonstration of both an average and a stellar intake, and offer the opportunity to practice restorative intake skills.

Motel is executive director of the Brattleboro Community Justice Center. She founded and directed the Just Schools Project, where she provided training and coaching to K-12 schools implementing restorative practices, and she has been involved with restorative practices for 15 years.
