DUMMERSTON — The Vermont Theatre Company is proud to announce the cast of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps (based on the book by John Buchan and adapted for the stage by Patrick Barlow).
Inspired by the iconic film and the classic spy novel, this Broadway hit portrays an ordinary man forced to go on the run after aiding a mysterious woman.
Anchoring the show as the hero, Richard Hannay, is Samuel Murphy, most recently seen on stage in Moonlight and Magnolias, while Clare Margand returns to VTC to portray several women encountered by Hannay on his adventure.
Audience favorites Shannon Ward and Jonathan Kinnersley team up to portray every other character in this madcap noir - more than a dozen roles each. The show also features live piano accompaniment, with original music by Rich Smith.
The 39 Steps is directed by Justin Fetterman and managed by Katy Peterson, with support by Krista Coughlin-Galbraith and Alex Luckham. The show is produced by Brenda Seitz and Nichole Bliznak.
Performances will take place at the Dummerston Evening Star Grange from Dec. 13 to 15 and 20 to 22. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays are 3 p.m. matinees. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students and seniors.
VTC will accept donations of nonperishable food items on behalf of Groundworks food bank, good for a $1 discount on your ticket.
