Stone Church Arts presents medieval and Renaissance carols with Keene State Vocal Consort

BELLOWS FALLS — Get in the mood for Christmas with the Keene State Vocal Consort on Monday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m., at Immanuel Episcopal Church, the stone church on the hill, 20 Church St.

Directed by Matthew Leese, the 14-voice auditioned ensemble will sing a cappella medieval and renaissance music based on the Kings' College tradition of “Lessons and Carols.”

The concert is hosted by Stone Church Arts, and admission is by donation. Composers include DuFay, Willaert, Gombert, Palestrina, and Giovanni Gabrieli.

Keene Vocal Consort has enjoyed several projects recently, including a collaboration with the Ewing Arts Award-winning Chamber Singers of Keene, mounting a staged production of Purcell's The Fairy Queen with KSC Opera and Boston-based ensemble Seven Times Salt, and presenting a service of lessons and carols with St. Bernard Church on Main Street.

This past spring they embarked on their first tour through New Hampshire, Maine, and up to New Brunswick, Canada, where they were the featured ensemble at the St. Andrews Arts Council 2018 “Spring Sing!”
