TOWNSHEND — On Monday, Nov. 18, at 9:30 a.m., the Townshend Community Food Shelf will host the seventh annual Turkey Drop.
Each $5 donation is tied to a 1-square-foot “deed” on the side of the Townshend Church. A “stuffed turkey” will be dropped from the high windows of the Townshend Church while spectators gather to see where it lands. The person “owning” the square where the turkey drops, wins!
You may buy as many tickets as you wish and need not be present to win. Prior to the release of the turkey, there will be a flock of “warm-up chickens” with prizes donated by local businesses.
No animals or food will be used during the drops.
Proceeds from the Turkey Drop will be used to defray the cost of holiday baskets prepared for families by the Townshend Community Food Shelf.
If you would like to donate to the Townshend Community Food Shelf Turkey Drop, squares may be reserved on Nov. 9 and 16 (both Saturdays), between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the River Bend Farm Market on Route 30. Tickets are $5 each or five for $20.
The Townshend Community Food Shelf is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides supplemental food to residents of Townshend and eight surrounding towns on a weekly basis.
