Hello and good day to you, residents of lovely Windham County, Vermont! I hope things are well.
While we may see a thunderstorm Wednesday evening and overnight, the only potential impactful weather I can foresee is a few localized areas of street flooding Wednesday evening and night as a cold front pushes into the region with a line of showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two.
This same front may draw north some heavier rains from a tropical system destined to be swept out to sea. Otherwise, Thursday afternoon, Friday and Saturday look warm and dry, although a spot shower in the county's high terrain may briefly form.
Sunday into Monday may see a few scattered showers, but it doesn't look like a washout to end Labor Day Weekend. We will then warm up a bit and get more humid heading into the middle of next week, with more sunshine expected.
Having drawn that weekly weather sketch, let's jump into the daily details!
For Wednesday, we will be watching to our west as a cold front pushes east towards southern Vermont. While it is destined to pass through during the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning, clouds will increase early on Wednesday.
This will produce a mostly cloudy day with highs in the low to mid 70s in the higher terrain, with a few upper 70s possible toward the Connecticut River.
Showers could arrive as early as the late morning to early afternoon period, but most of the wet weather should hold off until later afternoon and through the evening and overnight. Some heavier showers are possible, and a thunderstorm can't be ruled out. Anywhere from a quarter inch up to around an inch of rainfall can be expected. Lows will drop down into the upper 50s.
For Thursday, a few showers will be possible during the morning as the front moves east of us, and an upper level disturbance trails the front. Otherwise, we can expect partly sunny skies on average with highs in the low to upper 70s from the high terrain to low, and lows in the low to mid 50s under mostly clear skies.
For Friday, we will warm up for a day before another dry cold front passes through. Highs will reach the mid 70s to low 80s under mostly sunny skies, with again a spot shower possible in the mountains. Lows will descend into the low to mid 50s under mostly clear skies.
Saturday will be the nicest of the long weekend, with cooler temps and highs only reaching the upper 60s to low 70s under mostly sunny skies. Lows will be in the low 50s.
Sunday will feature similar temperatures and skies, but showers will be possible by evening into Labor Day itself. Highs will be in the 70s for Monday and Tuesday with increasing sunshine as the week wears on, with lows in the 50s. Have a great week!
