On Sunday, Aug. 11, the Stone Hearth Inn will host its eighth annual Hot Dog Cook-Off. Proceeds from this family-friendly charitable event will benefit the Chester-Andover Family Center and Chester-Andover youth athletics.
The event takes place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the inn and will feature music, prizes, and a silent auction and basket raffle.
The price of admission entitles you to all the hot dogs you can eat and a chance to vote for your favorite dog in the cookoff.
At least 10 “hot dog chefs” have entered the competition and will offer their own creative interpretations. Many contestants go beyond toppings and craft actual “dogs” from scratch.
Last year, the Smith family won the “Best Dog in Show” with a gouda-stuffed, bacon-wrapped dog on a lightly toasted bun, topped with a fresh mango-pineapple salsa.
“The Smith family said they have been taste-testing their 2019 dog in a variety of secret locations around New England,” contest organizers report. “They will only reveal that the recipe is based on some Southern inspiration.”
Admission is $20 for a family of four, $10 for adults, and $5 for students.
Proceeds support the Chester-Andover Family Center Food Shelf and its financial assistance program, which helps local residents struggling to make ends meet. The event also provides funding for local youth athletic programs.
