Hello and good day to you, southern Green Mountain state dwellers! We've got a dynamic week of weather ahead, so let's jump right in and paint the salient daily points of note.
For Wednesday, just an isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible within the context of a mostly cloudy day, but Thursday and Friday will feature a rather dramatic and shifting set of weather conditions.
Strong low pressure drives east through New England Thursday evening, bringing showers, downpours and thunderstorms, a few of which may be strong if the storm's warm front can lift north of Windham County for a time.
Rain showers continue Friday morning, and taper during the afternoon. As high pressure pushes in behind the deepening low, northwest winds gusts may blow 30 to 40 mph Friday afternoon and evening before slackening overnight.
The weekend looks gorgeous, mostly sunny, quite warm, calm. By early next week, humidity will increase and more showers are possible Monday night into Tuesday.
With the picture painted, let's jump into the daily details!
For Wednesday, we can expect a mostly cloudy day with some occasional isolated showers, and possibly a thunderstorm. Rain coverage should be relatively scant, and highs will reach the low to mid 70s with a calm wind. Lows will land on either side of 60 degrees, with an isolated shower possible.
For Thursday, we will start off relatively dry, but strong low pressure will be on the approach from our west. Showers could arrive by late morning, but will be most widespread later Thursday afternoon into the evening and overnight hours.
Rain will fall heavily at times and if the storm tracks more through Vermont then Massachusetts, its warm front could lift north of Windham County and allow more instability into the region, raising the chance for strong thunderstorms. Expect highs in the upper 60s to low 70s across the region, and lows in the upper 50s.
For Friday, showers will continue and then taper as we head into the late morning or early afternoon. High pressure will be building quickly, and the resultant pressure gradient will cause northwest winds to gust 30 to 45 mph across Windham County, with the highest gusts over the high terrain to the west.
Highs will reach the 65 to 70 degree range, and lows will drop to near 50 degrees, and winds will slacken by dawn.
The weekend looks amazing! Very dry air will advect into the region, creating mostly sunny skies, calmer winds, and highs in the low to mid 70s on Saturday, and mid to upper 70s on Sunday with lows in the 50s both nights.
By Monday, humidity increases in the region ahead of a cold front that will move through by Tuesday. Expect continued warm temps and showers Monday night into Tuesday. Have a great week!
