BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Music Center Music School is planning a Spring Celebration Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5. A planned faculty recital is a benefit for the Music School Scholarship fund and the Brattleboro Union High School Music Department.
On Saturday, May 4, the BMC will host student recitals throughout the day, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center is located at 72 Blanche Moyse Way, and all are welcome to stop by to enjoy musical selections performed by students.
Also on Saturday, a plant sale provides an opportunity to choose a special Mother's Day gift. A CD sale will offer a selection of every genre, from opera to rock, baroque to Springsteen, all priced from $1 to $5.
Proceeds from both sales benefit the BMC scholarship fund, which provides more than $25,000 yearly to students in support of their musical studies.
On Sunday, May 5, at 4 p.m., the Music School hosts a faculty recital, with Kathy Andrew on the violin, Judith Serkin on cello, and Bruce Griffin on the piano, with soprano Junko Wattanabe. The concert will include works by Turina, Beethoven, Handel, and Haydn.
Tickets for the concert are $10 for students, $20 general admission, and $30 for patrons. For more information, contact the BMC at 802-257-4523 or visit bmcvt.org.
