Good day to you, hearty dwellers of southern Vermont! We're currently caught in an ongoing up-and-down pattern which will produce inclement weather followed by periods of fair weather over the next week.
For Wednesday, we'll start off with a few early morning showers and transition to a partly to mostly sunny day that will last through Thursday. By Friday morning, rainfall will track back into the region as northern and southern stream systems merge over our region.
Our storm departs, and then drier and cooler air moves back into our area for Saturday and much of Sunday with a few high-terrain showers possible late. After Sunday night showers, the early week period looks to feature drying conditions and more sunshine.
That's our weekly weather picture, so let's jump into the daily details!
For Wednesday, showers depart during the morning as a cold front sweeps the upper low pressure system responsible for producing last week's rainfall east and away from southern Vermont.
Clouds will break, and we should end with a partly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 50s with west winds gusting 20 to 30 mph at times. Lows will be cold compared to recent days, and will drop into the upper 30s.
For Thursday, a brief period of high pressure builds through the region, giving us a mostly sunny day with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s with light wind. Lows will bottom out near 40 degrees as clouds build into the region.
For Friday, storminess revisits Windham County, with rainfall likely before dawn and lasting through much of the day and evening. Highs will be in the 50s and lows either side of 40 degrees.
For Saturday, our storm will depart and leave us with partly to mostly sunny skies, but a cold pool of air will move in aloft.
The resultant atmospheric lift (i.e. rising air) could combine with some leftover moisture and produce a few isolated showers in the high terrain in the western towns.
Expect highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, and lows in the mid 30s with a few high peaks dipping to the freezing mark!
For Sunday, we should start off partly sunny with highs in the low 50s, but clouds should build in late with showers Sunday night into early Monday morning as a system zips through.
Early next week looks fair and cooler at the moment. Have a great week!
