Putney Library celebrates National Poetry Month

PUTNEY — On Wednesday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m., at the Putney Public Library, 55 Main St., Kate Gleason and Putney Library Writer-in-Residence Michelle Blake will read their poems and talk about what they are currently striving to discover in their work - about language, poetry, and the world.

Gleason is the author of two poetry books, Laika in Space (forthcoming Main Street Rag) and Measuring the Dark (Zone 3 Press).

Her work has appeared in Verse Daily, Best American Poetry, The Southern Review, Alaska Quarterly Review, Rattle, and many other publications.

Blake is the author of three novels - The Tentmaker, Earth Has No Sorrow, and The Book of Light (Putnam Penguin) - a chapbook, Into the Wide and Startling World (Finishing Line), and a collaboration with visual artist Fran Forman, Escape Artist (Schiffer).

Her work has appeared in Mezzo Cammin, Ploughshares, Southern Review, The New York Times, MORE magazine, Solstice Literary Magazine, and Tin House.

This program is free and open to the public. All are welcome for a night of poems, talk, discoveries - and, of course, cake.
