BMAC hosts family dance show and party
BRATTLEBORO - The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center hosts “Adventures with Super Bee,” with a free evening of live dance performances, storytelling, and interactive creative play for the whole family on Friday, April 5, starting at 5:30 p.m., as part of Gallery Walk.
Super Bee plays host and protagonist as she guides the audience on an adventurous evening at the museum. Visitors will also enjoy original dance pieces by Flip & Fly Dance and Circus Company, Leaps & Bounds Kid's Dance of SoBo Studio, the Junior Dance Company of Brattleboro School of Dance, Super Bee, and more.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the Super Bee show runs from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. Super Bee will lead tiptoe mini-tours for kids from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. A reception, refreshments, and an open viewing of BMAC exhibits will be available until 8:30 p.m. For more information, email [email protected].
Youth Services presents Summer Camp Fair
BRATTLEBORO - Youth Services presents their annual Summer Camp Fair on Friday, April 5, on Gallery Walk Night, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the River Garden in downtown Brattleboro.

Flood Brook School Drama Club presents 'A-Haunting We Will Go'
LONDONDERRY - The Flood Brook School Drama Club, under the direction of Jennifer Houghton, will perform A-Haunting We Will Go by Tim Kelly at The Weston Playhouse in Weston on April 5 and April 6.
The play is a modern mystery-comedy set at the eerie and forbidding Inn of the Three Sisters, famous for an unresolved murder, horrifying spirit manifestations, and murderous intrigue. It features a cast of students in Grades 5 though 8, with additional help from high school, parent, and community volunteers.
Performances are at 7:15 p.m., with tickets available at the door: $5 for adults and $3 for students/senior citizens.
Legion Auxiliary hosts craft fair
BRATTLEBORO - American Legion Auxiliary Unit #5 will be holding a Spring Christmas Craft Fair on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 5, 32 Linden St.

Springfield Community Band seeks players
SPRINGFIELD - The Springfield Community Band invites anyone with prior experience playing an instrument to play with them this summer, even if it has been years or even decades since you last regularly played your instrument.
Rehearsals are Sundays from 6 to 8 p.m., starting on Sunday, April 7, at the Riverside Middle School auditorium (use the Fairground Road entrance).

Conservation biologist looks at the Amazon basin
PUTNEY - Landmark College presents a free, public discussion with conservation biologist Pieter deHart on Monday, April 8, at 7 p.m. in the Brooks M. O'Brien Auditorium, located in the East Academic Building.
DeHart, who has a Ph.D. in marine biology, is the dean of the School of Environmental Citizenship and professor of biology at Unity College.
His talk, entitled “Swimming, Sweating, and Surviving: Exploring Ecosystem Linkages Throughout the Tropics,” draws on his research on how climate change and manmade pollution have affected food webs in the Amazon River region.
His findings shed light on the broader issue of the consequences of deforestation on fundamental species of fish worldwide. This event is free and open to the public. Driving directions and a campus map are available at www.landmark.edu.
BF Woman's Club sponsors art show
BELLOWS FALLS - Members of the Bellows Falls Woman's Club will gather at Bellows Falls Union High School on April 9 for the annual club-sponsored arts show. Members should arrive by 11:30 a.m., but not before, to view the art in several mediums and the quilts that will be on display.
The art show has been an annual club sponsored project for more than 40 years. The Club Favorite piece of art and a quilt will be voted on by the members. A luncheon provided by the family and consumer science students will be served at noon. Following the meal, club members will go to the auditorium for the awarding of prizes for art and the quilts.
Prize ribbons for the prejudged art will be given by the club, along with a monetary award for the Club Favorites. The band and chorus will entertain the members with selections. The club will give an honorarium to the family and consumer science, band, and choral music departments.
Vernon Historians host program on former Grange building
VERNON - On Tuesday, April 9, the Vernon Historians will present an entertaining program about the building known locally as “the Grange.”
Ken Nokes, the owner of the building since 1985, will share the results of his years of research about this architectural treasure in the heart of the village center, including historical facts, newspaper stories, photographs, and more.
The building, on Fort Bridgman Road in Vernon, is known as “the Grange” because it was the home of Vernon Grange #228 for 60 of its 170 years of existence, from 1849 to the present.
However, it has had many owners, served diverse purposes, been known by various names (including the “Burrows House,” “The Vernon Hotel,” and the “Vernon Grange Hall”), and it has many stories to tell. Some of its owners and guests played important roles in the growth of Vermont and the U.S.
The program will be divided into five sections to coincide with five different owners and focus on the people and events of their time.
The program will be held downstairs in the Vernon Town Office building at 7 p.m., immediately following a brief quarterly meeting of the Vernon Historians membership. Following the program, there will be time for questions and discussions, and refreshments will be served. Admission is free and all are welcome.
Police to offer safety tips at Senior Center
BRATTLEBORO - Join local law enforcement personnel at the Brattleboro Senior Center during April as they discuss topics relevant to Brattleboro and offer tips to stay safe online and while enjoying the town.
All presentations are free, are in the Brattleboro Senior Center (the bottom floor of the Gibson Aiken Center), and start at 1 p.m. Online safety will be covered on April 11, while personal safety is the topic on April 18. The series concludes with a workshop about spotting scams on April 25.

Wantastiquet Rotary Club offers scholarships
LONDONDERRY - The Wantastiquet Rotary Club invites students to apply for scholarships for the coming year. The deadline for submitting an application is April 15.
Applications are available at area high schools. Last year, more than $6,000 was distributed to graduating seniors.
