Whetstone Brook hydrology analysis contract amended
BRATTLEBORO — BRATTLEBORO - The Selectboard has approved a modification to the town's contract with Dubois & King for an additional $15,000.
This amount will cover a data gap in the hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, which will provide information for the Tri-Park Housing Cooperative's master plan and owners of downstream properties seeking to redevelop.
At the Dec. 18 regular Selectboard meeting, Town Manager Peter B. Elwell told the Board this small increase would provide good and helpful information.

Bonnyvale Road to get dry hydrant
BRATTLEBORO - At the Dec. 18 regular Selectboard meeting, the Board voted to accept and appropriate a $5,000 grant to purchase a dry hydrant for Bonnyvale Road.
In the summer of 2019, property owners will construct a pond on their land. They developed an agreement with the Brattleboro Fire Department to use the water in their pond to feed the hydrant, which will help with firefighting efforts in that neighborhood.
The grant came from the Vermont Rural Fire Protection Task Force. Town Manager Peter B. Elwell explained the term “dry hydrant.” Unlike typical hydrants, which are pressurized and connected to public water supplies, similar to a home-based faucet, dry hydrants convey water from a source only when activated.

BRATTLEBORO - The Brooks Memorial Library received a $292.50 grant from the Vermont Department of Libraries to help pay for a courier to transfer lending materials between Brooks and other participating Vermont libraries.
This allows Brooks patrons extra access to books, DVDs, and other items. At the Dec. 18 regular meeting, the Selectboard voted to accept and appropriate this grant.
