Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center presents ‘The Everwood’

WEST BRATTLEBORO — The Forest of Mystery is an annual fundraising event to benefit the Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center. This year's production is The Everwood, written and directed by James and Jessica Gelter.

It will be presented on Friday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 27, at BEEC (Rain Date: Sunday, Oct. 28).

Hour-long journeys begin every 15 minutes between 6:15 and 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children. For BEEC members, the cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children.

In a news release, the Gelters talked about The Everwood. “In a land far away, in a time long ago, there were the Ever Ones, humans who lived not for decades, but for thousands of years. They lived their long lives banished to the forest, slowly joining with the forest itself. Some have become half rabbit or bird, some half rock or tree.

“On the night of the harvest celebration, all are welcome to travel through the Everwood to celebrate with the Ever Ones. But be careful, for there are many Ever Ones who have bonded with many things, including the Darkness.”

The Forest of Mystery takes place each year in the Halloween Season with the aid of a group of talented community actors, dancers, and musicians, as well as inventive costume and set designers. This interactive theatrical performance takes place in scenes staged along BEEC's beautiful candle-lit trails through forest and meadow.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of your journey so that you don't miss your group's departure into the Forest of Mystery. You will travel together on a trail that is about a half-mile in length. Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and dress warmly for an October night. The performance is recommended for ages 6 and older.
