BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Memorial Hospital recently presented the 2018 Employee of the Year Award to two employees - Pamela Amato, emergency department unit coordinator, and Marcy Moody, manager of physician billing.
The annual award is a closely guarded secret until the official announcement at the annual Ice Cream Social held during Hospital Week. Steven R. Gordon, president and CEO of BMH, presented Amato and Moody with their awards, citing their commitment to local healthcare.
Amato began her career at BMH in 1999, and has served as the Emergency Department's Unit Coordinator for almost 20 years.
Speaking of Amato, Gordon noted, “In her many years at BMH, Pamela has always been dedicated to patient care. She is a great asset and resource for her coworkers. She consistently puts patients and families first, being attentive to their needs and goes above and beyond to make sure their visit to BMH is exceptional.”
Nominated by her colleagues, Amato was praised for her ability to facilitate care in often stressful situations. Her outstanding teamwork and collaborative attitude earned her high praise from her coworkers.
The second awardee, Moody, started at BMH as a receptionist for the cardiology practice in 2011. The following year, she transferred to the billing department, and in 2016 was promoted to manager of physician billing.
“Marcy always has a positive attitude and approachable demeanor for both patients and employees to ask questions. She encourages personal growth of individual staff by allowing their specific strengths to be utilized in assigned work. She serves as a mentor to many, offering guidance and knowledge outside of her realm of responsibilities,” Gordon said.
Also nominated by her coworkers, Moody was lauded for her superb work ethic.
Susan Kapral, Director of Patient Financial Services, added, “Marcy is a great role model for her staff. She is kind and responsive to patients, making sure they understand their bill. She played a key role in BMH's transition to a new electronic medical record, assisting other departments with understanding the nuances of the new software and holding daily huddles with staff to evaluate their workload.”
