Good day to you, denizens of the verdant lands of Windham County! The upcoming week is looking pretty good in terms of fair and pleasant weather, with a slight warming trend expected.
With respect to the U.S. Drought Monitor, we're experiencing some dry conditions in the town of Vernon as well as neighboring Cheshire County in southwest New Hampshire.
The best chance for rain to help mitigate such aridity would be Saturday evening into the first half of Sunday, when a cluster of showers and thunderstorms may move through the region.
Otherwise, aside from some brief, isolated showers Wednesday, and again Thursday night, we should be dealing with a substantial amount of sunshine over the next seven days. Let's jump into the daily details!
For Wednesday, our upper level low pressure system will be departing to the east, but with a remnant northwest flow, we could still see some isolated light showers or sprinkles. Expect highs to be in the low to mid 60s with more clouds than sun. Lows should drop down into the upper 40s with a light wind.
For Thursday, high pressure pushes into the Mid-Atlantic region, bringing us partly sunny skies and highs near 70 degrees. An isolated shower is possible Thursday night, mainly over northern portions of Windham County. Lows will be in the mid 50s.
For Friday and Saturday, more robust high pressure builds east from the Great Lakes region and brings us a pair of mostly sunny days with highs in the low to mid 70s and lows in the mid 50s.
However, clouds will be building into the region late on Saturday as a disturbance rounds the northern part of a ridge in the central United States and drops southeast into New England Saturday night and Sunday.
If this system couples with an expected strong low level jet streak, we could see some heavy showers and strong thunderstorms through the first half of Sunday. Highs on Sunday should reach the low 70s.
High pressure and fair weather should build back into the region for early next week with highs in the 70s and partly to mostly sunny skies. Have a great week!
