Good day to you, folks that lay their heads in the windy hamlets of southeastern Vermont! At times, the atmosphere falls into periodic patterns that are hard to shake, and we are currently in just such a situation.
I'm afraid we're experiencing the curse of the soggy weekends, so keep your umbrella, rain coats and footwear nearby. Luckily, we'll enjoy a couple of nice, warm and sunny days to start the upcoming 7-day period, but by Friday into Sunday, water will be falling from the sky again.
Hopefully this mix of sun and rain is good for the gardens and farms across the region. Having said all that, let's jump into the dailies!
For Wednesday, high pressure will be sliding southeast out of Quebec and into northern New England which will help keep the sunny skies in place. Expect highs in the low to mid 70s with a light north wind. Humidity will be reasonable, and we can expect lows to drop down to near 50 degrees under mostly clear skies on Wednesday night.
For Thursday, high pressure will track from northern New England to off the Massachusetts coastline, which will turn the wind direction out of the south. This will begin the process of increasing humidity into the region. Expect highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 60s with a chance for isolated showers developing by Thursday night.
For Friday, soup is most definitely on the menu. Humidity will have arrived in full force with dew point temperatures rising well into the 60s and air temperatures reaching into the mid 70s.
Remnant moisture from Tropical Storm Alberto will combine with developing low pressure to our southwest and will bring showers and thunderstorms for Friday, Friday night, and through Saturday as well.
Some heavy downpours are possible as some tropical moisture rains out over southern Vermont. Gusty winds are also possible in any thunderstorms. Expect Friday night lows to dip only into the low 60s. I can hear the fans humming already.
For Saturday, showers and possible storms continue, with highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s.
For Sunday, a cold front will have moved through and high pressure will be off to our north, so cooler conditions will prevail into early next week with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s under mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies. Have a great week!
