BRATTLEBORO — New England Center for Circus Arts presents the culminating show of its second-year professional students in Out on a Limb with four shows only, June 8–10.
NECCA's Performance Training Program (ProTrack) is their most selective and advanced program, with previous graduates having gone on to work with Cirque du Soleil, Big Apple Circus, 7 Fingers, Cirque Eloize, and Circa, as well as European Cabarets, cruise ships, and celebrity tours throughout the world.
One year ago, NECCA moved into its beautiful, custom-built Trapezium just a mile north of downtown Brattleboro.
This year has been full of transformation, dedication, and hard work from the school's coaching and administrative teams as they reimagined the curriculum to realize the dreams of students in the new building, which features a trampoline, foam pit, and 40-foot ceilings.
Thirty-four full-time ProTrack students this year trained in the fundamentals of contemporary circus - dance, theater, acrobatics, and circus arts. The 2018 show features 14 national and international students in their second year who will present their individual creations in trapeze, partner acrobatics, aerial rope, handstands, and more.
The students worked with Director Aimee Hancock, herself an acclaimed aerialist who toured internationally for several seasons with Cirque Eloize and is a Core Coach at NECCA, to create this show and showcase.
In a news release, Hancock said “Out on a Limb is going to be both raw and honest as well as refined and entertaining.”
ProTrack Program Director Jamie Hodgson, newly appointed as the school's executive director, said the presentation “is an important step in the beginning of these students' careers. Come to see a great show and you may walk away with a rare insight into the future of performance.”
