Good day to you, denizens of southeastern Vermont! While you can never completely rule out wintry precipitation until May has come and gone, we're leaving the winter pattern behind.
I know for this writer, that news is most welcome. I love snow and the winter season, but it was getting long in the tooth through last week. So let spring commence, and let's jump into the details!
For Wednesday, we will be tracking a rainstorm that will have pushed east-northeast from the lower Ohio Valley and off the Mid-Atlantic coastline.
Normally, when a storm passes to our south like this in the cold months, it means snow and ice for us in southern Vermont.
However, the Arctic air in place just to our north last week has been drawn north and away from our region. While it will be a raw day and night, highs will be in the upper 40s to low 50s with up to an inch of rain falling through Wednesday night when lows will dip into the mid 40s.
For Thursday, morning showers will give way to a mostly cloudy day with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Lows will drop into the upper 30s to low 40s under mostly cloudy skies.
For Friday, high pressure will begin to nose back into the region for at least a day. We can expect partly to mostly sunny skies with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s and lows in the low 40s as clouds build back in again.
For Saturday, another frontal boundary will bring the chance for more scattered rain showers with highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows in the mid to upper 30s.
Sunday through Tuesday looks mostly sunny, mild, and calm with highs in the low 60s with the potential to reach the low to mid 70s by the end of next week.
