Rockingham approves school budgets
ROCKINGHAM - Voters approved all three school budgets by Australian ballot on March 6.
The $9,776,950 town school budget passed, 385-180, while the $6,684,078 budget for Bellows Falls Union High School was OK'd, 347-216, and the $2,748,573 budget for the River Valley Tech Center in Springfield was approved, 419-140.
In contested races for town office, Gaetano Putignano defeated incumbent Ann DiBernardo, 307-260, for a three-year seat on the Selectboard.
A four-way race for two one-year seats on the Selectboard was won by Doreen Aldrich (383 votes) and Peter Golec (308), with Cass Wright (203) and Jonathan Wright (154) missing the cut.
Vernon approves school budget
VERNON - Voters approved a proposed $5,730,650 town school budget at the polls on March 6.
The measure, voted on by Australian ballot, received 88 “no” votes, and 180 “yes” votes.
The budget, as proposed, will result in education spending of $15,300 per equalized pupil, or 8.2 percent less than the current year.
Voter turnout was 280 out of 1,778 registered voters, or 15.7 percent, according to Town Clerk Tim Arsenault.
Marlboro approves zoning revision
MARLBORO - A referendum on zoning regulation revisions passed by a 122-39 vote at Town Meeting on March 6.
Total turnout was 166 registered voters, or 24 percent.
There were no contested races on the ballot for town officers.
Wilmington budgets passed
WILMINGTON - Voters approved spending $2,207,095 on the general fund, and $1,410,174 on the road budget at the March 6 Town Meeting.
Voters also approved continuing funding for recycling at the former Town Garage, to add $265,000 to the highway equipment capital fund, and $125,000 for the fire department equipment capital fund.
