Board approves new utility truck

BELLOWS FALLS — Village Trustees have approved a replacement for a one-ton water utility truck that had to be towed back to town after breaking down on Interstate 91.

Out of three quotes for new and used vehicles, Public Works Director Everett Hammond recommended to Bellows Falls Village Trustees that they approve the purchase of a 2010 Ford from John C. Stewart and Son of Cuttingsville.

Numerous bid requests had been sent to local dealers, including one to Durand Toyota/Ford of Route 5, who did not respond.

Hammond also recommended purchase of a service body from Iroquois Manufacturing of Hinesburg.

The $1,295 service body replaces the original body while in use, leaving the original intact when the vehicle is resold or the warranty expires.

The cost of the truck and service body totals $33,973.

The motion was passed, with Trustee Scott Falzo objecting.
