Good day to you! The past week has been stormy indeed, with plenty of rainfall to the southern Vermont region, and wind as well. It certainly has been dynamic in the weather department, recently, but our atmospheric drama is going to smooth itself out for a spell.
Generally speaking, we have to deal with a couple of pairs of frontal passages on Thursday and Friday, and then again on Sunday and Monday. These will bring scattered showers, a little bit of wind, and even some wet snowflakes for the southern Green Mountains Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Let's jump to the details!
For Wednesday, we will be waking up to patches of frost across the region, but should rise into the upper 40s, to perhaps 50 degrees in spots. Clouds will be on the increase as warm air begins pushing northeast out of the Ohio Valley towards southern Vermont, ahead of a warm front.
Scattered showers are possible late on Wednesday, but more likely Wednesday night into Thursday. Lows will be in the mid 30s to low 40s and some snow showers are possible in the highest elevations of western Windham County.
For Thursday, the warm front will pass through with more scattered showers possible, and highs will be noticeably milder and reach into the mid to upper 50s. A few isolated showers are possible Thursday night with lows in the low 50s.
For Friday, we'll enjoy the warmest day we'll see for at least the next week, if not longer. Highs will reach the low 60s ahead of a cold frontal passage that moves through Friday afternoon with more scattered showers likely. Lows will be in the upper 30s under partly cloudy skies.
The weekend will be split, with Saturday being the pick for sure. It will be partly sunny with highs in the low 50s, with upper 40s in the high terrain and lows in the mid 30s.
Some showers will be possible again by Sunday as another warm front lifts towards the region with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the upper 30s.
The warm front passes, we warm into the 50s on Monday and then see another cold front bring some more scattered showers with clearing expected by Tuesday. In other words, fairly pedestrian weather as far as New England standards are concerned. Have a great week!
