Turning Point offers new writing group

BRATTLEBORO — Turning Point of Windham County is offering a new writing group where people in recovery can explore their thoughts and feelings. The group will meet at Turning Point, 39 Elm St., Mondays from 1 to 2:30 p.m., starting Oct. 30.

Facilitator Laurie Tigan is a recovery coach as well as a language arts educator. According to Tigan, writing is a therapeutic opportunity to have a creative outlet to work on sobriety; it helps people make sense of their own lives, gives people an outlet for exploring haunting, challenging, and pleasant thoughts, and gives them an opportunity to think more deeply and get closer to their own truths.

This café-style group for writing and sharing is casual and free flowing, with no judgments and no concerns about spelling and grammar.

This group offers a daytime writing experience for people who cannot attend the Monday evening Recovery through Words group, or people who wish to participate in two creative groups. The Recovery through Words group meets every Monday at 6 p.m. New members are always welcome.
