Good day to you! We've been enjoying more in the way of cool and fair weather conditions over the past several days, but that is coming to a close as we push into the upcoming late-week and weekend period.
The culprit for our impending dampness is a slow-moving cold front draped off of low pressure that will track into Hudson Bay, Canada. This front will be more or less parallel to the upper flow, which will cause it to slow down over the New England region.
In fact, after it passes through Thursday it could return as a warm front over the weekend, increasing humidity, and allowing showers to linger and lollygag about southern Vermont.
For Wednesday and Thursday, we are going to warm up thanks to high pressure pushing south and east of our region. This will induce a southerly flow, and warm us into the mid 70s for highs on a mostly sunny Wednesday, with lows in the mid 50s for Wednesday night. Clouds will move in at this time, and some showers are possible late Wednesday night.
Highs will be in the low 70s on Thursday, with lows in the low 50s. In addition, scattered showers will accompany the cold frontal passage during the morning, but we should break out into a partly to mostly sunny afternoon.
For Friday, the front will be to our south most likely, allowing partly sunny skies to develop with highs in the mid to upper 60s, and lows in the upper 40s to low 50s.
The period of Friday night through Monday looks generally unsettled. The cold front will start to return north as a warm front Friday night into Saturday, thanks to another low pressure system lifting east-northeast out of the Great Lakes region. This will bring a risk of scattered showers from Friday night through Monday.
Highs from Saturday through Tuesday should be in the upper 60s to low 70s, but lows will not drop much due to increasingly humid air advecting into the region. Expect lows in the mid 50s to near 60 degrees through the period.
Much uncertainty remains for the weekend as of this writing, but periods of showers are expected, along with humid air before another cold front moves through by early to mid next week. Have a great week!
