Good day to you! We've been dealing with record-breaking late-September heat during the past several days, but that is all coming to an end as seasonable, cool Canadian air is set to sweep the southern Vermont region from late this week into early next week.
There are a couple of minor rain chances, but aside from those, we should be enjoying dry, sunny, and seasonable autumn weather conditions.
For Wednesday, we will be experiencing the final day of this recent bout of summer warmth. We should start off with a mostly sunny day, and highs will soar into the low 80s before some clouds start to build in later in the day. A cold front will be moving in from the west, ushering in much cooler Canadian air behind it.
However, winds aloft are expected to be light, temperatures aloft are expected to be warmer, and moisture is not expected to be terribly abundant. The combination of these three factors indicates that while some scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Wednesday night into Thursday morning with the frontal passage, severe weather is not expected. Lows Wednesday night will slip into the upper 50s.
For Thursday, after some morning showers and clouds move through the region, we should begin to dry and cool down, as cooler air advects into the region from our neighbors to the north. Highs will reach only the upper 60s under mostly sunny skies, and temps will plummet at night under clear skies, with lows dropping into the low 40s! A welcome and refreshing change for many, I would imagine.
For Friday, we'll cool down even further, with highs in the low 60s under mostly sunny skies. We should see some cloudiness develop late in the day with a weak shortwave moving through. This feature could kick off some scattered showers Friday night into Saturday morning. Lows Friday night slip into the low 40s again.
High pressure will build back into the region for the weekend and into early next week. Saturday morning clouds will clear to sunny skies. It will be the coolest day in a long time, with highs only in the mid to upper 50s and lows near 40 degrees. Fair weather continues for Sunday with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s Sunday night.
As of now, it appears high pressure will scoot east and warm us up a bit, with highs in the low 70s for early next week under mostly sunny skies.
