SAXTONS RIVER — Local storytellers will share their life experiences in seven minutes each when Main Street Arts presents “A Night of True Stories,” Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m.
In the spirit of public radio's “The Moth Radio Hour,” friends and neighbors will entertain with tales of pathos, mirth, adventure, loss, fright and all the emotions in between. Stories are told live on stage without scripts, notes, props, or accompaniment.
Scheduled storytellers are Celia Bohannon, Ron Bos-Lun, Michelle Bos-Lun, Kathleen Bryar, Rick Gordon, Tony Lampert, Margo Matt, and John Tribuna.
The event is a fundraiser for Main Street Arts in a cabaret setting with refreshments. Tickets are $16 in advance or $18 at the door.
The Moth, a Peabody Award-winning radio show, is now in its eighth year and airs on more than 200 public radio stations nationwide.
“Storytelling, likely the oldest art, is revered and reinvigorated by this hour for everyday raconteurs,” the Peabody judges wrote in making the award.
