Town considers hazard mitigation plan
DUMMERSTON — DUMMERSTON - The town may soon get its first hazard mitigation plan, and the public is encouraged to comment on it.
For the past few years, Windham Regional Commission Emergency Planner Alyssa Sabetto has worked with town officials to create a document that will “assist the Town of Dummerston in identifying all of the hazards facing the town and to identify new and continuing strategies to reduce long term risks from identified hazards,” says the draft document.
The document defines hazard mitigation as “any sustained action that reduces or eliminates risk to people and property from natural and human-caused hazards and their effects.”
The draft is available at the Town Offices and online at dummerston.org. and Sabetto requests public comment. The deadline is Sept. 17. Sabetto can be reached at 802-257-4547, ext. 113, or [email protected].
