Good day to you! Our long streak of cooler, sunnier weather dominated by high pressure is beginning to break down a bit.
This will result in a few chances for at least scattered showers, if not some heavier downpours and/or thunderstorms at times. Again, no heat waves are in sight as we cast an eye towards September, but a few days near 80 degrees are quite possible.
For Wednesday, a coastal low pressure system will be racing northeast to the south of Nantucket and out to sea. Any morning clouds from this system will be drawn to the east, and allow for a partly sunny day to develop with highs in the low 70s. Highs should dip into the upper 40s to low 50s under clearing skies.
For Thursday, low pressure will be moving east through southern Canada, and will drag a cold front through southern Vermont in the later morning and early afternoon.
Even though moisture levels look to be on the low side, we should still see a round of scattered showers and thunderstorms move through before sunset on that day. Highs will be in the low 70s and lows will be in the mid 40s for a chilly night.
Friday and Saturday look cooler to be sure. Highs will only make it up into the upper 50s to low 60s on Friday for an autumnal feel. Lows will likely drop into the upper 30s to low 40s in spots as well.
Saturday should warm a bit into the upper 60s with lows in the 40s. Both days should feature abundant sunshine with high pressure building into the region and moving off to the east by Sunday.
For Sunday, another disturbance should move through with a chance of scattered showers and highs in the low 70s as a southerly flow starts to work into the region. Lows will be in the mid 50s.
Early next week is very uncertain, as we could be dealing with another disturbance, or the remnants of Hurricane Harvey which may bring some wet weather to the region before heading out to sea to our south. It's more likely than not that we will miss rains from Harvey, but it'll be something to keep an eye on as the new week approaches.
