BRATTLEBORO — We at Windham County Safe Place hosted our first Youth Fishing Derby on June 3, and it was a huge success! The weather was beautiful, and we are overwhelmed with how much community support we had in planning this event!
In the end, the support of our nonprofit really equals the support of many local kids and their families.
The Safe Place Board and staff thank the event sponsors, without whom we couldn't make the fishing derby happen. We also received so many donations from local businesses.
We are sincerely grateful and excited to be part of a community that not only supports fun local events, but supports small nonprofits like ours. Thank you to all of you who donated to make our day really fun and successful!
Thanks also to the families and kids who came out at dawn to snatch up some rainbow trout. Seeing all of your bright and shiny faces walking down the path to fish at 8 a.m. filled us with joy! Congratulations to Hunter, who caught the first fish of the day and won a trophy!
We can't wait to do it all over again next year.
