Good day to you! I, for one, am very thankful that the recent soupy, muggy, and super humid weather conditions have pushed away from the southern Green Mountains for a minute. Man, oh man, that was not pleasant!
Although I'm certain there are some of you reading this who relish such sticky summery weather. Luckily for folks like you, the season has just begun. And with that, I wish you a very happy Summer Solstice!
As for our sensible weather, Wednesday will feature the potential for some scattered showers. The upper level low pressure system responsible for fostering and directing severe weather into our region this past Monday will finally be moving east overhead and out to sea.
As this happens, a cooler pool of air will move through aloft, and with daily heating of the surface by our star, instability will develop aloft. Consequently, convection will fire, and we'll see some scattered showers in southern Vermont, and maybe even some rumbles of thunder. Highs should crest into the low to mid 70s, with lows in the low to mid 50s under partly cloudy skies.

For Thursday, high pressure will continue to build in from our west, and it will be a beautiful, dry day! Mostly sunny skies with a light west wind will allow for highs to reach the mid 70s - a truly gorgeous day!
As the day winds down, however, moisture will start to build in from the west, as another cold front is slated to cross the region Friday night. This will result in building clouds at the end of the day, with lows dropping into the upper 50s as humidity begins to increase.
For Friday, we will first see a warm front approaching and moving through the region, which will allow highs to reach into the low 80s in a few spots. This will also allow a southwesterly flow to amp up the humidity across Windham County.
Once we're in the warm sector and to the east of the approaching cold front, we will be in a more unstable air mass. We should see some scattered showers and thunderstorms form, a few of which could be strong. This chance for scattered showers and storms continues into Friday night before the cold front pushes through the region to the east.
The weekend looks very nice. With the exception of a shower and an initially-humid air mass early Saturday morning, we should dry out to a partly sunny weekend with highs in the mid 70s and lows in the 50s. Early next week could see the approach of more unsettled weather with a chance for showers on Monday.
