Good day to you! We have certainly been dealing with unseasonably cool temperatures in an intermittent cadence for a few weeks now. I know many farmers and gardeners are ready for warmer, drier, sunnier streaks of weather, and I'm happy to say we may get to tie at least several such days together late this weekend into early next week.
After Tuesday's super rawness, we can hopefully finally turn the corner into the summer season.
For Wednesday, the upper level low pressure system that produced a bunch of rain over southern Vermont on Monday night into Tuesday will be lifting northeast, and shifting offshore into the Canadian Maritimes.
Still, some scattered showers are possible, especially in the morning hours. We should end up with a partly sunny day with highs in the low to mid 60s. Lows will drop into the upper 40s under partly cloudy skies.
For Thursday, high pressure will build in from our north, while low pressure shifts from the Great Lakes into the Ohio Valley waiting to merge with moisture coming out of the southeastern U.S.
Before that happens, we will enjoy a fair day on Thursday with partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs will reach the upper 60s as we continue to warm, and a spot shower can't be ruled out. Lows will dip into the upper 40s as clouds increase ahead of a coastal system.
For Friday, we will have to watch for the Ohio Valley low to possibly link up with emerging moisture off the East Coast.
These two features could form a coastal, very late-season Nor'easter that may throw some scattered showers or even a period of rain into southern Vermont for Friday. It's not a super high chance, but it's significant and should be mentioned. Highs should reach the mid 60s and showers should wane at night, with lows dropping into the low 50s.
For Saturday into early next week, we really begin to warm. High pressure should position itself to our south and east, allowing a warmer southwesterly flow to set up shop. While some scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday, highs will get into the low 70s, and then increase from there.
In fact, by Sunday we should reach the mid to upper 70s and then early 80s for a time into Monday and Tuesday, all under sunny skies! Get ready for a taste of summer, and have a great week!
