Climate-change movement’s mixed messages

In this lengthy piece, Bill McKibben made mention of Al Gore, who is a giant hypocrite.

It makes me wonder why the climate movement hasn't taken Gore, Leonardo DiCaprio, the Rockefellers, Tom Steyer, and other celebrities to task for preaching about climate while they live lives of excessive consumerism and have giant carbon footprints.

If they believe climate change is caused by humans (and the only solution is to downsize, conserve, etc.), why are they riding on yachts, in limos, in private jets, and living in 20,000-plus-square-foot McMansions?

Why does anyone need more than one home or mansion here and abroad? Why is their outrageous consumption of electricity, land, etc. not attacked? Why are they not shamed into living lives in accordance with what they say they believe?

Or are they just making money giving speeches and selling movies, since their over-consumptive lifestyles speak louder than their words?

Yet those in the movement don't criticize and would even welcome a speech from one of these hypocrites who will only tell average people like you and me that we are the problem. Demonize the oil companies and electric companies (who applaud the invention of the electric car) all you want, but realize these celebrities within the climate movement are giving them tons of money, and it doesn't seem to bother them.

As recorded in the fossil record, the Arctic at one point in Earth's history was not frozen, and that was before humans lived. How can we ignore the fact that climate was changing before humans? What makes us think if it was changing before we were here that we can “stop” it now?

Where is the transparency and a complete discussion? Or are the true climate “deniers” simply ignoring the four billion years of Earth's climate history and the blatant disregard of the Earth by those most visible and vocal about it?
