Good day to you, southern Vermonter! We've got more in the way of traditional early spring weather on the way as generally cooler temperatures and more moisture works into New England thanks to an easterly flow.
Temperatures will be noticeably cooler over the next week, and we've got a few rain chances to contend with, so let's jump into the details.
For Wednesday, we'll start off partly sunny early, but clouds will be on the increase as a system racing along the northern U.S. border will be dragging a cold front across the region Wednesday evening and overnight. Expect highs in the upper 40s to low 50s and lows near 40 degrees, with scattered showers on Wednesday night.
For Thursday, we will be between systems, and should start the day with just cloudy skies, but showers will be possible during the day, and especially so Thursday night into Friday. Highs on Thursday should be warmer and near 60 degrees as a warm front tries to lift through the region. Lows will be near 40 degrees.
The Thursday night into Friday timeframe has the best chance for showers and even some strong thunderstorms as a more robust storm system pushes across New England, so pack your rain gear for Friday, with highs cresting into the middle 50s. Lows will bottom out in the upper 30s to low 40s with more scattered showers possible.
The weekend looks pretty good with partly sunny skies for Saturday and into at least the first half of Sunday. Highs should be in the low 50s Saturday and the middle 50s Sunday, with lows in the middle 30s.
By the second half of Sunday into Monday we could see another storm system move through the region with more rain showers possible.
However, there's uncertainty around how a southern stream system and a northern stream system will link up or not. If they phase, we could have another robust period of rainfall for early next week. If they do not, we should see more scattered shower activity.
Additional scattered showers and cooler temps in the 50s are possible on Tuesday as well.
Have a great week and keep your rain gear handy!
