BRATTLEBORO — The Vermont Theatre Company announced the casting of its spring production, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
With music and lyrics by William Finn and book by Rachel Sheinkin, the play is an adult musical that centers on the fictional Putnam County Spelling Bee. Six quirky adolescents compete in the bee, run by three equally quirky grown-ups.
In an unusual twist, according to a news release, several real audience members will be invited to the stage at each performance to compete in the bee alongside the six young spellers. The Broadway production was nominated for six Tony Awards.
The cast includes Krista Coughlin-Galbraith, Rachel Durante, Liam Johnson, Amelia Graff, Cassie Dunn, Ian Epstein, Jackie Cosse, Eli Coughlin-Galbraith, and Katy Peterson.
The production is being co-directed by Bob Kramsky and Ryan Buck, stage managed by Brenda Seitz and choreographed by Cassie Dunn.
