WESTMINSTER — “Bluegrass on the King's Highway,” featuring the Feinberg Brothers and Kelley John Gibson, comes to the Westminster Institute on Route 5 on Saturday, March 18, at 6 p.m.
Presented by Jenny Brook Bluegrass, the concert brings together some of the top young roots musicians in the Northeastern U.S., and a very special local light, for an unforgettable night of great picking and pure harmonies.
Based in Long Island, N.Y., the Feinberg Brothers are led by siblings Rourke (fiddle) and Patrick (mandolin) singing lead and tenor, accompanied by their father Ronnie on guitar and veteran sidemen Terry McGill on banjo and Peter Elegant on acoustic bass.
In addition to the lessons learned from soaking in their father's influence, Rourke and Patrick have also been classically trained, resulting in what Bluegrass Unlimited called “traditional bluegrass with the soul of yesteryear and technical ability that would be hard to equal.”
Their self-titled debut received rave reviews and airplay throughout the U.S. and Canada, drawing comparisons to the likes of the Gibson Brothers.
Kelley John Gibson has been raised on Bluegrass and Classic Country and has been playing guitar and mandolin since his early teens, blooming as a songwriter the past few years. A co-written song (“Everywhere I Go”) with his father and uncle appears on the Gibson Brothers' latest recording, In The Ground.
Tickets are $20 at the door or online at jennybrookbluegrass.com/bluegrass-on-the-kings-highway-concert.
