Good day to you, I hope you can find one nice thing to smile about today. Sometimes it's that one thing that can turn the tide on a day. I wish that for you in this moment, but I digress! To the weather!
We are on the meteorological seesaw for the foreseeable future into the middle of March. After that, I believe we're going to be firmly moving into Spring, which could end up warmer than average, but we shall see.
Between now and then, we've got warm and cool shots to work through. There is still a little gas left in this winter's tank, so let's get into the weekly details.
For Wednesday, a warm front will be passing through the region, and we will be heading for record-setting warmth with highs in the low 60s. A south wind will be building as low pressure will be tracking far to our northwest.
This deep flow will pull fairly disorganized moisture into the region, and showers and thunderstorms will be possible ahead of a cold frontal passage that will move through later in the evening. Some strong to severe thunderstorms are possible, with the best chance south into western Massachusetts. Damaging wind would be the main threat, with hail also possible. Lows will dip into the mid 30s by Thursday morning.
For Thursday, we'll have clouds early and increasing sunshine during the day as colder air moves into the region behind the cold front. Any lingering showers could turn to snow showers, and some light accumulations are possible in the high country. Highs will have been set at midnight Thursday morning, and will drop during the day, eventually landing in the teens overnight.
Friday and Saturday will be the core of the cold air in the next transient dose of our Canadian cool down. In fact, an Alberta Clipper may make it far enough north to bring light snow Friday morning with a dusting to an inch possible, but it's a low chance as of this writing. Highs will be in the mid to upper 20s both days, and lows in the teens, and possibly some high-single-digit readings early Saturday morning.
For Sunday and Monday, we will see another warm front pass through with highs in the 40s, and mostly sunny skies, before more rain showers are possible Tuesday, possibly changing to snow showers as cooler air works back into the region.
The second week of March holds the best promise for wintry weather, so I will update you next week about that potential. Have a great week!
