Good day to you. I hope that some of you were able to access my updates on The Commons' Facebook page during the past wintry week we just slogged through. Nice to get some real snow on the ground, finally!
But what goes up must come down. And in this case, it's the opposite.
What has gone down (temperatures) must come up, and up they will climb, starting this weekend. However, we've got couple of days of generally light accumulating snow to get through, so let's jump into the details.

For Wednesday, we have an upper-level northern-stream low-pressure system that will glide southeast out of Canada and pass right overhead. This storm will be on its way to hook up with a southern U.S. storm, and the two will merge over the eastern Gulf of Maine and bring another major snowstorm to Downeast areas on into southern New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
For us in Windham County, we miss out on the moisture-laden southern system, but we should still see anywhere from a coating to about 3 inches or so of snow as the system moves through. Highs will be in the upper 20s to low 30s, and lows will sit down near 20 degrees, with snow showers possible at night, too.
For Thursday, a northwest wind should pick up in the wake of the departing low and should gust over 20 mph at times. In addition, this will briefly kick on the lake effect snow machine, and it will generate some west-facing upslope snow showers, mostly in the mountainous areas of the western part of the county. Additional light accumulations are possible, with highs in the mid to upper 20s and lows in the teens.
For Friday, we'll have one more cold February day, with highs in the 20s and lows in the teens and even single digits in the high elevations. That will be the coldest night for the next week and possibly through the end of the month.
Over the weekend, we begin to warm as a new pattern takes shape with a trough in the west and a ridge in the east.
Expect partly sunny skies and fair weather through the period, with highs generally in the 30s to low 40s and lows in the 20s. Some showers are possible earl next week.
